yacht rock #2...
ok - yacht rock 2 is funnier still featuring a "battle" between kenny loggins/michael mcdonald and hall/oates...
christopher cross makes a cameo...
yacht rock...
remember the late 70's early 80's - doobie brothers, steely dan, kenny loggins - well of course you don't. you might not have even been born yet. this is the music punk rebelled against and although much of what the punks said about bands like this were true - hey, i still dig a lot of the music...
here is a very funny, satirical, look back at that era... yacht rock
epsiode 1 is a quasi-documentary dramatization about the "making" of "what a fool believes", that old doobie bros. chestnut....
very funny...

my midlife crisis...
...although, perhaps it is a testimony to my sensibility (boringness?), that it has a great safety rating, gets good gas mileage and has gotten rave reviews...
this is the first car i have *wanted*...as opposed to wandering around aimlessly at the lot...i spent a long time researching, etc - like adults do - prior to making a purchase...
You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hoped for
You're everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hoped for
You're every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to meeeeeeeeeeeeee *voice cracking with emotion*

different kind of meme
while i recognize the potential danger of this one, i'll give it a shot...
Put your name in the comments and.....
1. I'll tell you something random about yourself
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you
3. I'll tell you what taste reminds me of you
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to me and you
5. I'll tell you my first clear memory of you
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of
7. I'll ask you something I've been wondering about you for a long time
8. If you read this, you must put it up on your blog...

short range dedication #2
There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more
has there ever been a more simple, beautiful lyric written...
this, like the previous goes out to the most beautiful people i know...
also, rip mr. lennon
geesh, the holidays sure brings out the sappy-ness in me, eh...

a short distance dedication....
casey, if you're out there, i have a dedication to the three ladies in my life...
the first verse is the relevant one...
Well it’s been building up inside of me
For oh I don’t know how long
I don’t know why
But I keep thinking
Something’s bound to go wrong
But she looks in my eyes
And makes me realize
And she says don’t worry baby
Don’t worry baby
Don’t worry baby
Everything will turn out alright
well said, mr. wilson - and while the rest of the song doesn't apply and even the first verse might not be literally my experience- and the lyrics seem a bit flat w/o the gorgeous harmonies, i heard this song today and i couldn't help thinking of the ones i love most!
ah, in other news...
yesterday was my mindless movie viewing day... watched cliffhanger - a sylvester stallone vehicle with the lovely janine turner - a fave from the northern exposure days - then i watched mr & mrs smith - a fun, dumb movie that might not be all that dumb - i mean, anyone who has been married can appreciate the metaphor - a couple with guns pointed at each other falling into a passionate embrace.... reminds me of the chris rock routine - "if you haven't been holding rat poison, looking at her coffee - you ain't been in love" i paraphrase here... anyhow, the movie gains resonance due to the real life hijinks of pitt and jolie... - and for that matter vince vaughn - who i don't believe has ever been in a bad movie (swingers RAWKS) - if jolie and pitt have children, they would have to be the most beautiful creatures ever... i mean, angelina jolie isn't necessarily the prettiest, or most beautiful, but she has more of, um, something, than anyone on earth...i'm suprised the poster for mr & mrs smith didn't spontaneously combust... and brad pitt - i am secure enough to admit he is a fine looking chap, and except for the quite reasonable hate i have for any man richer, younger, in better shape, nore famous - i have to say i like him - and i get the sense most guys do... i get the sense that he's a cool guy who just happened to be a big winner in the genetic lottery - and not the typical celebrity suffering from rectal/cranial inversion. i actually dreamt that my sister was dating him - i told her about the dream - i kinda wonder if the dream fairy didn't get her signals crossed and delivered that dream to me instead of her by mistake....
my latest obsession is mario karts ds which features online play - so i can get beat by folks worldwide....
my online persona is that of dj megahurtz (online nickname dj mHz) - long time readers may recall i picked that as my hip hop name...
i created this image - a kind of luchador....yes - i have a chin gerbil now - i have often criticized creative facial hair - but what can a boy do...
cool name, cool insignia - now if i could only win a few races....
very close to finalizing my new scion xB
