fa-fa-fa-fa-fashion...
i alternate between being completely unconcerned with my appearance and caring, at least to some degree. lately, i've been in a caring mood...i think i am extremely insecure about my appearance, so at some point, i got the notion why even bother trying... anyhow, blame the style network, especially the look for less, which me and my daughter love watching - but i am in a fashion-conscious mood lately (btw - most of those shows are targeted towards women - why not have something for men...when i look at men's fashion magaiznes they have $300 shirts - my whole outfit, including the wallet and money contained within doesn't come close to that)
anyhow, i have a couple issues - one is cash - very little discretionary income these days for clothes - secondly, the clothes i see either seem boring old guy clothes or young hip guy clothes.... and my ego is too big to put myself in one of those categories, yet not so big that i feel i belong to the other...so i feel stuck - what to do with my hair, clothes, etc... i *did* get a compliment on my glasses today, which was much appreciative due to the infrequent nature of these kinds of compliments...
any suggestions?

Ooh, feeling metrosexual, are we? Nothing wrong with that, I wish more men were concerned with their appearance.
As I don't know what's up and what's down in American clothes shopping, the only advice I can give you is casual smart - smart dress never does you harm and doesn't have to kill the budget.
Hope that's helpful.
(Obviously I'm not going to tell you to ask your wife...)
i hate the M word...
and why shouldn't i ask my wife...i helped her pick out an outfit today!
You could always volunteer to go on Queer Eye. Is that show still on anymore?
it is still on, but i think you need to live in nyc...
i did send in an application for the look for less - although there site said they stick to the east coast as well, they do have a slightly wider range...
Because saying 'Go ask your wife, dear' is patronising. But you are right, why shouldn't you ask your wife. Us wives like to have something to say about our husbands' attires.
'You're not seriously going to wear this, are you?'
My stepfather likes to wear old wornout clothes because there is some use in them yet. That use is strictly confined to the privacy of the home and he has to change clothes if visitors come over, lest they'd think he'd gone off his rocker.
It would be fun seeing you on the Queer Eye.
Oh I have great news for you.
Go to Sierra Trading Post.com and select the Bargain Barn.
There you will find major brands of men's clothing and shoes marked down from 60 to 80%.
They are fast shippers, they exchange and return with a smile and their clothes and shoes are always of hiigh quality.
For $300 you could buy a whole new wardrobe- several pairs of shoes included.
thanks for the tip, but why would i need more than 1 pair of shoes???
;-)
i'll check it out
We want before and after pictures.
You could try "What Not To Wear"... a makeover and $5000 wardrobe makes it worthwhile.
yeah - heck - i could get a new wardrobe for, say, $250 - we could give old clinton and stacie the slip and me and my wife could hit vegas with the rest!
